KK&P Partners Will Speak at London International Disputes Week 2026
We are pleased to announce that KK&P Trial Lawyers and Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer LLP will co-host a seminar at London International Disputes Week 2026 dedicated to emerging risks in Russia-related disputes.
The seminar, titled The next phase in Russian sanctions disputes: Injunctions, concurrent court proceedings, the risk and implications of Russian insolvency proceedings, and global enforcement battles, will take place in London on 4 June from 11:30 to 13:00 (London time).
The topic reflects a core part of KK&P’s practice. Since 2023, the team has represented leading US and EU banks and financial institutions, including Société Générale and ING Bank, in Russian courts, and is also defending Euroclear in its landmark dispute against the Central Bank of Russia.
Over the past three years, the aggregate value of claims in more than 60 disputes has exceeded EUR 200 billion. These matters have involved a broad range of financing and capital markets instruments, as well as sanctions, parallel proceedings and enforcement issues.
Insolvency has been one of the firm’s key strategic practices since its inception. Between 2015 and 2026, the team acted in 30+ insolvency cases with claims exceeding US$1.3 billion. The practice is consistently recognised by leading directories, including The Legal 500 EMEA and Chambers Europe.
Event overview
Parallel cross-border proceedings, competing anti-suit and anti-enforcement injunctions in different jurisdictions, local insolvency proceedings, and the permanent enforcement threat have become a common risk factor for major UK, US and EU companies litigating in Russia.
Russian courts are increasingly asserting jurisdiction over disputes, claiming ‘exclusive jurisdiction’ even where contracts provide for dispute resolution abroad. They have also initiated ‘local insolvency’ proceedings against foreign entities, which allows claimants to draw them and their affiliates into Russian proceedings, obtain judgments and insolvency orders against them, and seek recognition and enforcement of such measures against assets located outside Russia.
This discussion will cover:
- emerging Russian litigation-related risks and how they are spreading around the globe; and
- strategies to deal with those risks.
Together with Maxim Kulkov, Oleg Kolotilov and Nikolay Pokryshkin, the seminar will feature Emma Deas (Partner) and Alexander Gridasov (Senior Associate) of Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer LLP, and Saima Hanif KC (3 Verulam Buildings).
Venue: Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer, 12 Primrose St, Broadgate, London, EC2A 2EG
