On 22 September, Maxim Kulkov will participate in the XIII Annual ABA Conference on the Resolution of CIS-Related Business Disputes

Maxim Kulkov, managing partner of KK&P Trial Lawyers, will act as an arbitrator in a live mock demonstration.

The fact pattern will involve one of the parties seeking to obtain and use discovery from the United States using the Section 1782 process in a Russia-seated arbitration.

Section 1782 is a federal statute that allows a party of a legal proceeding outside the United States to apply to an American court to obtain evidence for use in the non-US proceeding.

Together with Maxim the arbitrators are Grant Hanessian (independent arbitrator, USA) and Alice Fremuth-Wolf (Secretary General of VIAC).
