On 2 August, Maxim Kulkov will speak at the 3rd Asia Pacific Mediation Conference in Seoul

The focus of the conference will be Asia-Pacific region countries’ consideration of the Singapore Convention on Mediation (which was adopted by the UN General Assembly in December 2018 and will be open for signature on 7 August 2019). It is expected that the adoption of the Convention will significantly affect the development of mediation as an alternative to court settlement of disputes by improving the mechanisms for enforcing the parties’ mediation agreements in international commercial disputes.

Maxim Kulkov, KK&P Managing Partner, Chairman of the RSPP United Mediation Service, and listed arbitrator at the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) and the Japan Commercial Arbitration Association (JCAA), will deliver a presentation at the conference’s third session on the Russian perspective on promoting International Mediation in Far East Asia in the context of the Singapore Mediation Convention and in light of recent amendments to Russian laws regulating mediation recently passed in the third reading.

The purpose of the conference is to emphasise the importance of mediation and its recent development in the Asia-Pacific region, and to contribute to the development of mediation as an effective means of resolving disputes with an international element.
