Maxim Kulkov will speak at the Istanbul Arbitration Week on 5 October

On 5 October, KK&P Managing Partner Maxim Kulkov will lead a session entitled Jurisdictional Collisions in Complex CIS Disputes: All Roads Lead to… at the ThoughtLeaders4 Fire, Disputes & Investigations: Central Asia event.

Maxim will talk about recent trends in the application of Art 248.1 and 248.2 of the Russian Commercial Procedural Code (CPC), which allows Russian courts to find jurisdiction notwithstanding a DR clause agreed by the parties.

As part of the live discussion, Maxim will also discuss the following issues:

  • Confrontation between Russian and Western ASIs;
  • The thorny issue of Lugano and implications for the CIS related civil and commercial legal judgements;
  • The English Courts and interpretation of foreign law, and
  • Forum non-Convenience, comparing and contrasting the latest on conflict of laws and jurisdictions, disclosure, interim relief.

 

The event will take place at the Mandarin Oriental Bosphorus Hotel (Istanbul).
