The Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot is one of the world’s most famous and reputable student moot courts in international commercial arbitration. The contest has been held since 1993 and hosts teams from all over the world every year. The arbitral hearings between the teams are modelled on a dispute arising out of a contract on sale or purchase of goods between two countries which are parties under the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. The goal of the Vis Arbitral Moot is to foster the study of international commercial law and arbitration for resolution of international business disputes through its application to a concrete problem of a client and to train tomorrow’s leading lawyers in methods of alternative dispute resolution.
