Advising a client regarding the breach of a supply and engineering contract for railway equipment. Under the contract, the client was obliged to supply equipment, and perform engineering and commissioning works.
Subsequently, the counterparty notified the supplier of its termination of the contract and filed a claim exceeding €10m, seeking the return of the advance payment, liquidated damages, price reductions for alleged defective equipment, and other losses.

Defending major German banks in disputes against a Gazprom subsidiary relating to the refusal of clients to make payments to the opponent under bank guarantees due to sanctions restrictions. The claimant is currently attempting to recover funds from the clients through a Russian court despite the fact that the guarantees are subject to English law and contain an arbitration clause.

Defending a major US bank has been involved in a wide range of proceedings initiated by major Russian banks, companies, and private investors – in connection with the sanctions and counter-sanctions restrictions on payments and financial transactions, including disputes arising from correspondent account agreements with demands for the return of funds blocked due to sanctions, disputes related to the blocking of international interbank transfers, and disputes related to payments on financial instruments.

Assistance with preparing an expert report on Russian law for an English court as part of proceedings between former spouses regarding the division of joint assets, including issues relating to the possibility of dividing beneficial ownership under Russian law, the admissibility of disclosing information to foreign courts, limitation periods for claims relating to the division of joint property, currency control regulations in the context of voluntary enforcement of foreign court judgments, and maintenance obligations in relation to a former spouse.
