Maxim Kulkov spoke at the English Law Day

On 17 April, KK&P Managing Partner Maxim Kulkov took part in Session 1, entitled “Arbitration in Turkey and the wider Eurasian region – local perspectives” in Istanbul.

Maxim’s presentation was devoted to expert reports on foreign law in arbitrations: among other things, he discussed the strengths and weaknesses of opinions and the vulnerabilities in an expert’s position revealed during cross-examination.

The other speakers were Polen Bayrak (Bayrak Law Office), Yesim Bezen (Bezen & Partners), Andrew Burr (16 Marina One Chambers), and Benjamin Wells (Belgravia Law).

The conference covered a number of key themes, including dispute resolution, enforcement, the impact of sanctions on trade, transactions, contracts and disputes, the psychology of arbitration, combating corruption and fraud through freezing orders, investigations and private prosecutions.

The English Law Day was hosted in the run up to the Istanbul Arbitration Days. The event is organised by the Eurasian Legal Professionals’ Forum and The Bar Council of England & Wales. The conference allowed participants to exchange experience on a range of topics, including arbitration, damages, sanctions compliance, combatting corruption and fraud.
